I was actually sitting at a computer, angry about a fight with my roommate, when the girl sitting at the computer next to me turns to me and asks, "Have you ever thought about studying the Bible?"
Now, I am more informed than the average person about the Bible: I know who Lilith, Shechem, and Boaz were, but I was so amazed that this girl was reaching out to me to spread what she found to be an important message.
I sat and listened as Erin told me of her journey to God and her life during college. She talked of bisexuality and alcohol usage and many other pressing topics for college students.
But, it was not her message that made my day amazing- I did not necessarily agree with her words- it was that she had gone out of her way to try and make my life better.
There I was angry at my roommate, angry about trivial problems, and here was a girl who somehow knew that I was going through a rough patch and extended the grace of religion to me. Moreover, she gave me a card so that I could get in touch with her and her church. I had expected her to just be a lonely soul reaching out but then I read the card- Women's Ministry Leader.
I find that amazing, that leaders like Erin reach out on ordinary days to help those in need.
